A Bible Story for Boys:
A Blade from Damascus

An interesting Bible story for boys - A Blade from Damascus

This story is set in Bible times; about 2 boys, swords and coveting and "an eye for an eye."

Ahh, coveting. That's a topic near and (not so) dear to my heart. How many times have I WANTED something and confused it with NEEDED? And once I get it, the thrill of acquisition vanishes or goes sour! How do we teach this to our kids? Maybe by allowing them to experience little incidents, then come along side them and turn it into a "teaching moment." Love to hear your ideas!

Here's A Blade From Damascus.

Enjoy and Blessings

A Classic Bible story for children:
The Good Samaritan

This week's Bible story for children hit me in a very personal way today.

My brother came to visit while I was doing my daily Bible devotions. My quiet time with the Lord is so scarce (and without kids around) that I have to protect that time quite intentionaly. So I basically shooed him away and told him I was "busy." I was going to study the Bible on "how to love others." Then I realized I lost an opportunity to minister to my unsaved brother!

I've been asking God for forgiveness alot about this issue lately. I hurt because I feel so selfish.

In this Bible story, the Good Samaritan said to the hurt man: "Sometimes a man must hurt in order to heal." Wow! True. Enjoy!

A NEW Bible Story Every Week:
The Calling of Matthew

Check back here every week for your Bible story.

When I read or tell stories from the Bible to my kids, I sometimes read them like factual pieces of history. Not that these stories are not true, but I often forget to "read between the lines" to paint a dynamic picture of REAL people and REAL events. I need to help my kids to "see" and "hear" the truths of God's living word.

Here's one thing you and I can do, let them listen to audio Bible stories such as this one below. Over 10 years ago, we chanced upon audio stories as a great source of entertainment for our kids. These stories really helped them to develop "audio intelligence." In an age of visual technology (TV, computer, IPOD) it's good to develop an audio habit as well. Afterall, you can do SO many activities while listening to all kinds of stuff! Double action. Double benefit.

Here's this week's story:

The Calling of Matthew. This is an excellent version of how Matthew the tax collector became one of Jesus' disciples.

Stay tuned more stories coming later.
